Introducing 'A Thought Proposed'

Concept Overview:

A Thought Proposed is an philosophical educational blog focusing on ideas within philosophy, politics and economics. The blog is organized into various “Series” each dealing with a particular overhead topic with each entry into the series building upon the previous. Currently we have four series being planned so far; How to Philosophize, The Importance and Function of Philosophy, Path to Utopia, and Metaphysics. The blog will also include “Independent Thoughts” contributions which are independent from the series which may range from much wider breadth of topics and ideas. The idea is for the independent thoughts to be community fueled but with dedicated authors as well.

A Thought Proposed is aimed to stimulate and cultivate creative critical thought. Whether it may be the introduction of an original notion, the evaluation of a current norm, an analysis of the past, or a conception of the future the emphasis is on the proposition itself. In order to create and maintain a balanced, inclusive, and informative yet open ended forum for debate in pursuit of this aim, certain guidelines are employed. This includes requiring referenced information where possible for both the proposition and the opposition. Length is also an area of concern not only to ensure viewer consideration but for the reason that if an idea cannot be adequately explained in short then either the idea is in need of further development or the individual does not have the understanding necessary to concise it in a manner which others may come to understand it in that form. Further explanation and proof is encouraged but as a separate arrangement from the abridged proposition. Personal takes and comments are, unless proven necessary or complimenting as a substantiated opinion, discouraged and ultimately omitted in order to preserve evenhanded and intellectual conversation though personal examples are acceptable.

A Word on the Project:

A Thought Proposed is our more abstract project and will take time to really take shape but with interested and motivated minds, this can become an invaluable tool to help reintroduce philosophy as a user-friendly and practical approach to problem solving and logical thought.

Progress:

The project at the moment is solely in planning stages as the current authors are caught up with other responsibilities within the company.
